I'm random, yes I am.

All things lovely in life

So glad I was so detailed back then

I was reading back on the past blog posts I posted for my Taiwan trip planning, namely on the various accomodations I considered back then. Oh man, I am so glad I did blogged it all down previously!

Because….. I’m going to be the main planner for my upcoming Family trip, where my parents, brother and I will be travelling to Taiwan; if my brother’s leave gets approved, that is.  The month for our travelling is undecided for now, but should be either October or November as I don’t want to visit Taiwan during school holidays period and Mummy can’t leave leave in month of January – my favourite month cause it’s one of the coolest month during Winter. We can’t visit Taiwan during CNY (my granny passed away earlier this year in March so my family has to 闭年 in 2019) because a lot of shops/ some night market stalls are closed and only opened after CNY Day 5 I think?

I’m planning a 7D6N Taiwan trip this time round, and I will be considering at least 50% of the accomodations I blogged down back then. I’m lazy to re-plan and find new homestay places especially for Taichung & Cingjing. I’m even using the same itinerary from 4 years ago, and changing the itinerary details from there lol.

So here goes, for me to refer to it years later when I need to 😛

Day 1: Taoyuan Airpoirt> Taichung (2hr 10mins)  – By bus, most economical and FUSS-FREE method.

Accomodation: CityInn Hotel Plus Taichung Station (They served us the best breakfast buffet few years back)

Day 2:  Taichung > Cingjing (2 hours)  – By bus or Taxi

Accomodation: Sunnydale or new Cingjing Homestay place

Day 3: Cingjing > Taichung > Yilan, Jiaoxi  – By TRA Train

Accomodation: Yunoyado Onsen/ Qilidan Hotspring Homestay

Day 4: Yilan, Jiaoxi > Taipei

Day 4 – 7: Taipei Accomodation: In Ximending, to be confirmed. Either Hotel Midtown Richardson or Diary of Taipei Hotel

Our Renovation Journey – Key collection!

After 4 years of long waiting, we finally collected our keys to our new home on 11th August! After rescheduling our original key collection appointment from 17th Aug to 11thAug in the  morning, we took a full day off so that we could have ample time to settle the house fire insurance, PUB matters and defect checking (first part).

We reached HDB hub just in time to settle our Fire insurance. Having different views, we only bought the Basic fire insurance initially. However, after the key collection session, I finally managed to persuade my hubs that we should purchase the Premium Fire insurance; they were having a promotion in which we only had to pay 4 years worth of premium for 5 years’ worth of fire insurance. This is important as it covers the whole house including furnishing in case of a fire outbreak.

Man, it was tiring having to shuffle from Toa Payoh back to hub’s parents place and then from there, travel down to our new home which is Punngol. Though we travelled by cab to transport over the cleaning tools (wet floor sheet & 3M cleaning stick), some drinks and a standing fan for our comfort, but it was still a long long day for us.

Once we arrived, we opened the door with our new keys, and rolled the pineapple in to the end of the house. HUAT AH, HUAT HUAT HUAT! See our lonely pineapple below.

13962773_10153955770842637_7665286909352048504_n

We ended up cleaning the whole house a short while after checking on our defects. It was so tiring and we spotted so many defects! It could also be we were just plain yin chim… Oh wells. This was just day 1. We returned back to our new place on both Saturday and Sunday to finish up the defect checking. We also met up our ID on Saturday to finalise our house renovation plans before he did up a newly revised quotation for us. We changed almost everything from our initial plan.

There was so much dilemma for our kitchen area, as we did not know whether we wanted to hack half a wall, whole wall or keep with the wall and just install clear glass PD door. We met our ID up the following week (21st Aug) and decided we would not be hacking the kitchen wall away. But alas! Just barely 2 days after, my hubs who really disliked the kitchen wall which seemed to be in the way whenever we see it, thought of a few ways to renovate that area.

Our final decision was to not hack away the kitchen walls. No more changes. (Our ID was exhausted and a little pek cek with our fickle-mindedness as well, though who could blame him, haha). Honestly, we still aren’t impressed with the designs and ideas given by our ID and so we kept thinking of how to improve the orientation of our new place, which wall to hack, what type of doors to be installed etc etc. <- I can’t believe we changed our minds on the hacking of the kitchen walls like THREE times.  😡

Planning for our Honeymoon to Korea

Honeymoon Trip Planning (Seoul & Jeju Island) 2016

Okay, so we have both decided on Korea for our Honeymoon trip in March this year! We had wanted to go for a long Honeymoon to Korea and Taiwan initially, but  we ended up deciding to just go Korea this time round because we thought piled up work would be overwhelming for being away from work for so long.

The fiancé thought Japan would be good since we did not visit Japan before, but I didn’t want to go because I am still uncomfortable with the radiation levels in Japan. Ya la I know Singapore’s radiation levels are high too/ even higher than Japan but still… Japan can wait. Taiwan will have to wait too. I so miss Taiwan please!

I haven’t had the time to plan for our honeymoon so far due to wedding planning and Guodali. I have Pre-Wedding blues right now. Anyone with me?

It will be a 10 days 9 night honeymoon trip. We bought our air tickets in August last year during Singapore Airline’s Two-To-go promotion. The fiancé paid for my air tickets. Hopefully he can sponsor me the accommodation too! 😛 Which will leave me more money for shopping. Although traditionally, Honeymoon is supposed to be paid by husband, and it is a gift for the wife. But seeing how much wedding expenses my fiancé has been paying out of his pocket, I feel I should contribute a little more towards our Honeymoon trip too. (Which I am, by planning the whole trip and doing research on accommodation, places of interest and food! Hah)

Update: Hahaha, my husband ended up paying for the whole trip so this Honeymoon was an all-expenses paid trip. MY HUSBAND IS THE BEST!!!! ♥♥♥

Honeymoon Expenses

Air tickets cost: $1,438.60

Honeymoon Flight Summary (SIA)

Here’s a brief summary of what I’ve in mind for our Honeymoon itinerary so far. The revised version will be updated below after everything has been finalised:

Day 1 (Pass midnight): Depart Changi Airport

Day 1 (Morning): Stay near Seoul Station

Day 2: Fly to Jeju Island very early in the morning

Day 2 – 5: Jeju Island

Day 5: Fly back to Seoul, stay in Myeongdong area

Day 8 – 10: Stay in Airbnb apartment with GOOD VIEW (I am a sucker for awesome night view)

Day 10 (Pass midnight): Depart Incheon Airport

So far, I’ve been to Seoul twice and both times, I’d stayed at Residence EO located at Myeongdong area. This time for our honeymoon, we would be booking Myeongdong hotels and also try to experience staying at Airbnb apartment if there are pretty ones.

Update on 11th January

I shall blog down my list of hotel/ guesthouse/ airbnb apartment choices which I’d initially shortlisted as well as our confirmed accommodation choices below. Yep, as a form of reference for me and I hope it will also help people who are planning for their Seoul/ Jeju trip in time to come. I noticed a lot of my readers clicked into my blog previously as they were searching for Taiwan accommodation/ planning, so I hope this will help out all of you who needs it too!

Firstly, I searched for hotels near to Seoul station because we would be staying in Seoul for 1 night before flying off to Jeju for 4 days. Initially, I wanted us to stay near Hongik University station  OR Seoul station. Hongik University (Hongdae) is nearer to Gimpo Airport via AREX train but the hotels in Hongdae area didn’t attract me, mainly due to the fact that I saw more Guesthouses than hotels.

SEOUL

Seoul Station:Hotel Manu | Millennium Seoul HiltonFraser Place Central Seoul | Four Points by Sheraton Seoul Namsan

Hotel Manu  is the one hotel which is located nearest to Seoul Station, and it seems like it’s newly built in the recent years. Price wise, it is very much within our budget. I also thought it looks like a fuss-free and clean hotel room suitable for one night of stay.

Millennium Seoul Hilton costs around 3 times higher than Hotel Manu. It is also located slightly further away from Hotel Manu.

Fraser Place Central Seoul looks good and not at all expensive.  However, it looks like it’s a little out of the way. I wanted to stay somewhere really near to Seoul, where possible as we have to catch a really early morning flight to Jeju on our second day.

Four Points by Sheraton Seoul Namsan – This hotel looks pretty comfortable too; however, I’d preferred Hotel Manu over this hotel, probably because Hotel Manu is a very new hotel. I love NEW hotels! Don’t we all don’t…

Myeongdong Station: Crown Park Hotel Myeongdong Solaria Nishitetsu Hotel Seoul Myeongdong

I’ll blog down the list of confirmed accommodation for Jeju Island and Seoul as soon as we have finalised them, and when I’ve the time to. I am bugged by the wedding planning at this point in time. I’m off to prepare my wedding invitation cards right now. Have to mail some of them out these few days 🙂

Update: Our list of accomodation for our Honeymoon trip are as below.

Jeju Island:

The Shilla Jeju | Hotel Aroha | Hotel Leo

Myeongdong:

Lotte City Hotel Myeongdong

Hongdae:Forgot to save the pretty Airbnb link, but it was a scandinavian apartment and was linked to Hongdae subway station (AREX line exit). Very very convenient! Would love to stay at that building during our next visit too 🙂

Honeymoon trip to Seoul next year

YAY! We booked our air tickets to Korea! Finally. We will be flying by Singapore Airlines.

Decided on Korea because I wanted to go Jeju Island to chill and enjoy the scenery and slower pace of life with the husband (by then) next year AND also shop at the same time in Seoul.

Yvonne Creative Review Part 1

Here is part 1 of my review of Yvonne Creative Bridal. I will post part 2 after our pre-wedding photoshoot & photo selection is over. That will be sometime in September/ October, so stay tune 🙂

Okay, so the fiancé and I went for our gown fitting at Yvonne Creative recently. We went twice – once in June last month, and once just last Saturday afternoon. To be really honest, I had very little expectation of Yvonne Creative after reading quite a few negative reviews of them online. Prior to this, I tried so hard to search for reviews on Yvonne Creative Bridal after we signed up our package with them, but there were so so so few. Most were reviewed a few years ago, hardly any were done in recent years.

A brief one on why we signed up with them. We actually signed up our package with Yvonne Creative quite a while ago, way back in year January 2013 during a small-scale wedding fair at Expo. We were looking to compare packages offered by the various bridal shops but were stopped by a sales person of Yvonne Creative along the way. We then talked to the sales person for 1 hour plus. I was stuck with them because at that point in time, I was so attracted by their crystal hand bouquet. We looked through their photos, and very much liked their style of shooting and the way their photos were edited (with the kind of colour effects I love). We also looked through their gown collection at that point in time, which were prettier than the other bridal shop we stopped by (I think it was Bridal Zone). Our package was priced at $3,688 at that time inclusive of Actual Day Photography.

After two gown fitting sessions with them, I think a good coordinator is so important! My coordinator is Cheryl. She is SO NICE. I love her so much! 🙂 She was actually recommended to me by my colleague, Jayne. Coincidentally, Jayne’s bridal shop happens to be Yvonne Creative as well. What a small world, haha. Cheryl always has a smile on her face, and is a helpful and bubbly girl. She got me to try on all sorts of gowns, except mermaid gowns because I told her I would definitely not choose mermaid gowns because of my big hips.  I think I tried like 40 over gowns during my first session.

However, I wasn’t satisfied with my chosen gowns. We just thought something was missing. I just felt the top part of the gowns could be better. In the end, I selected an electric blue ruffles evening gown and a white wedding gown with huge rose rosette petals at the hem for Actual Day. For outdoor photoshoot, I chose a red layered organza gown and mint gown.

During my second fitting, it was for me to select my outdoor white gown for our pre-wedding shoot as well as select 3 sets of suit for Actual Day, and 2 sets of suit for Pre-wedding shoot for my fiancé. In the end, I managed to try on some other gowns and selected “THE ONE” gown for my AD. It is an ivory french lace gown which I am so in love with! My fiancé chose a khaki suit for Gatecrashing, a black long tail tuxedo & navy blue checkered suit for Actual Day. The checkered suit is kind of Korean style, the way I like it.

Updated on 9th January 2016:

Sorry for the lack of updates. I’ve bee lazy and procrastinating to post up Part 2 of my review. We recently selected our Wedding photos, and the photos (in softcopy) are ready! Here’s a sneak peek:

My Everything – Lena Park

The song which was being played before my boyfriend proposed to me. I was so thrilled because this is my top favourite love song till now 🙂

I’m engaged! #throwback 200914

Love comes when you least expects it.

The same goes for Diamond!

IMG_2032

Yes yes yes, I’m engaged! To my boyfriend of 4 years 11 months – as of the proposal month in September 2014.  🙂 Ahem, now he’s my fiancé, hahaha! As usual, I procrastinated for so long to put up this (lengthy) blog post. It’s been 5 months and 13 days since I got engaged and finally after all the procrastinating, I’m done with penning these wonderful memories and photos down.

My then-bf now fiancé’s proposal happened on 20th September 2014.

It came as a really BIG surprise because I totally did not expect him to propose anytime before end of this year. Like totally. And he planned our engagement party with a ton of our mutual friends and I’m sincerely touched for his efforts in doing so. ;’)

So he had been planning this for the past few months after Mei Yee’s proposal and that was in May. And I was kept in the dark for the past few months. DUH. And our friends said they came so close to letting the cat out of the bag. Okay, rather, they did but I just DID NOT notice, being the blur self I always am…. -.- Because many a times, they were like busy discussing when we met for dinner/ movie dates. At times, I was just in front of them. Haha, talk about being oblivious to her surrounding; that is yours truly,

And so here’s how the proposal went…….. The six of us (couple clique) decided to celebrate my boyfriend’s birthday on 20th Sept, Saturday, the weekend before his actual birthday. I was like asking the rest of them if that weekend work for them, and all of them were saying yeah 20th Sept is good, 21st Sept will not work as some of them had to work on Sunday (which later on, I realised it was just part of their plan to scam me because they needed 20th Sept to work).  Then, Meiyee informed us that her workplace has a tie-in with Coastal Settlement restaurant and that as a staff of her company (a local hospital), they get like some discounts when they visit Coastal Settlement. I was like okay, and got rather excited because I heard my ex-colleague talk about how nice the ambiance at that restaurant was.

Hahaha, long story cut short. On 20 Sept, I got ready and decided to wear a maxi dress w a short front. I actually got inspired to wear that because the dress was long forgotten in my wardrobe and I recalled asking Jace about her choice of outfit for the dinner and she said she don’t know…. maybe a maxi dress? Yeah. I also did my makeup (luckily I did!) which was rare because usually I’m too lazy to put on contacts and do makeup during the weekends unless it’s a special occasion.  Sze Herng came by to pick me up and Mei Yee (his fiancée) and my boyfriend already in his car. Along the way it was all normal but I think their heart were like beating excitedly…. LOL. When we were approaching the proposal party’s venue, I suddenly saw a lot of changi chalets and I exclaimed like woah, Coastal Settlement is really near to these chalets. We can even go for a dinner next time and head back to our chalet if we book a chalet here next time, hehehe. (oh boy, little did I know I was speaking of the truth yet to be revealed to me at that time)

Sze Herng then asked me to call Jacelyn/ Jing Jie in an attempt to distract me so that I’d no longer be looking at the roads while he was driving (and in turn, find out about boyfriend’s proposal event way before we reached the event’s venue). Jacelyn picked up the phone and she said both of them were on their way. I thought maybe they were late, and so I continued to probe further on. And apparently at this point in time, we turned into the Chalet’s driveway and reached the chalet’s entrance already. Sze Herng even honked twice to notify the rest of our friends of our arrival in a subtle way. Well, I DID NOT EVEN NOTICE THAT cause I was busy trying to probe Jacelyn if they were really on their way 😛 Sorry folks for doubting your words.

This was when Sze Herng honked twice, I think. Apparently, Andy, Jason and the guys were setting up fire at the BBQ pit before we arrived. ;}

Driveway small

This is the entrance and what greeted my sight was….. Yan Ru who came walking towards us. She opened the car door and told me to follow her. I took a quick glance and saw that Wei Xiang was holding a camera/ cam recorder. Jing Wen was some steps behind Yan Ru. I was so very surprised and I started blabbering, saying things like “Eh, Jing Wen, Wei Xiang! You’re here!?….” I was so stunned and didn’t know what to do! I needed SOME time to calm down and think and thus I told Yan Ru to wait for me while I concentrated on talking to Jacelyn. Ah, silly me! Sze Herng couldn’t stand me and decided he had to stop me if not this was getting nowhere.

Driveway small02

So, I got down the car and toppled my bag in the midst of doing that -.- Yan Ru being the sweet her, offered to help me take my handbag. I handed my handbag to her, and strutted out of the car looking like some queen lol! I didn’t meant to appear like that okay! I was just so flabbergasted and couldn’t think coherently. OPPS.

After I got down the car, I was led into the chalet. There was a wooden staircase, looking oh-so-romantic with rose petals and tea candles flickering in the glass jars. It was really really romantic looking ❤ Here’s a picture taken by Alvin, though the resolution isn’t great because it was dark in the hallway. Later, I found out from my fiancé that they had pasted black trashbags on the glass doorways in the living room hallway to hide the pretty aisle and set-up in the garden at the backyard of the chalet….

IMG-20140921-WA0020IMG-20140922-WA0031

There was a bedroom at second level and so after climbing up the romantic staircase…. what greeted me was as below:

IMG-20140921-WA0027

My immediate reaction was, OH SO THIS WAS THE REASON WHY MY BF ASKED ME FOR MY GREEN LOLA (the one on the left)! I’ll share with you how he asked for the plushie from me later on. Lol. I kind of looked around the room for about… 1 minute? It could be less than that. Then I left the room. The rest of my friends actually expected me to stay longer in the room. My friends reminded me kindly if I wanted to stay around and look at our stuffs for awhile more. But to me, I was like, what’s there for me to see…. (The handmade gifts were all made by me, given to my boyfriend as presents over the years) And so I went: “What should I be looking through at?” Hahaha, I’m as unromantic as a guy can be. My girlfriends went like, you can flip through the pages and look at them again? Haha.

IMG_2076

Lola & Grumpy. :’) You don’t even want to know how my boy got them from me. The mint one on the left was at my house and the one on the right was with him at his house, right from the start when we bought them from Craftholic.

IMG_20140920_215341

After leaving this room, I walked down the stairs to the living room. I heard “My Everything” being played and I was like squealing with joy, my favourite love song! I did tell the boyfriend back then ever since I watched Global We Got Married Season 1 two years ago that, if he were to propose, I’d love to hear this song where possible. 😛

There, on the table was another pretty set-up with an equally gorgeous backdrop right infront of it. There was a scroll all rolled up and placed in a big glass bowl of silver curly ribbons. Fairytale-ish feel, I like! But truth be told, I was too surprised beyond words. I unrolled the scroll, and read the message which my boy had penned down for me. Which was…. very short and simple actually. I expected a longer written speech though 😛

The little details that added up to everything on that magical day. :’)

IMG_2049

Soon after, I was led to the kitchen by our friends. From the start, a few of my friends were filming me the whole time (they tried their best, because apparently I was walking very fast and zoomed by them at too fast a pace at certain point in time. Hurhur, my bad. I should have walked more 淑女-ly. ;P

In the kitchen, the set-up contained a handcrafted mini album made by my fiancé. He also included a receipt of the diamond ring. HAHAHA. The first thing I looked at was the carat. Like seriously….. Because my fingers are stubby and short, so anything smaller than a 0.5 carat look way too minature on my fingers. 😦 Sorry my dear; wish I could have very slender finger that can fit 0.3 carat rings snugly too.

The gorgeous diamond ring which my fiancé got for me. Oh yes, it’s from Lovis Diamonds. It is well worth every penny because I really love this ring so much. Let me emphasize again, I REALLY LOVE THE SIDES OF THE SETTING. Pretty bling makes me happy. Thank you baby for your efforts in planning this proposal for me. I love you, and all our friends too! Words can’t express my gratitude to you guys, but please know that you are loved and very much appreciated for being present at our engagement party. Not forgetting your time taken in helping Kee Kien prepare for this party of ours. The efforts, every single thing you guys did. ❤

Details…… and more details of the set-up that day. I absolutely love it! Thanks to Matchsticks who did the designing, executing and planning of the lovely proposal styling. These lovely memories will be in my heart for as long as I live. It was really a dream come true proposal with such lovely styled set-up being done. :’> Though they are very new to the industry, they have awesome ideas and are an energetic and friendly team. My boy only told them the colour theme of mint & silver and they churned out the rest of the props and themes for the party.

We will also be engaging them for event styling for our wedding which will be held in the first quarter next year. I can’t wait to meet them up to hear what they can do for us 😀 I’m thinking of whimsical theme. For colour theme wise, I am unsure if I want to go for my favourite mint and silver for our wedding styling or if I want to change it to another colour theme. Hmmmm. I’m just afraid it will be too similar to our engagement party’s theme.

Event styling is still kind of new in Singapore right now for weddings, but I think it’s totally worth to include that for the wedding if budget allows. There’s always small-scale styling if one can’t do big-scale ones. 🙂 Imagine how all your photos will turn out to be! They will be so gorgeous. My fiancé has no regrets la…. Maybe except it burned a hole in his pocket 😛 Once again, I’m so blessed to get to enjoy all these and I really am thankful to have a wonderful man as my fiancé. Photos will be up on my Facebook in another 1 month’s time I guess. I am now off to procrastinate further, I guess. Hahaha. I will be blogging more on wedding preparations in my next few posts if anyone is interested to know.

Okay, time to continue wedding planning. I’ll put up a separate blog post on our wedding journey some other day. So far, we have booked our wedding venue, and are in the midst of meeting a few of my favorite Wedding Photographers & Videographers. But we will be confirming them by the end of May because I simply think meeting up too many PG and VG kills our brain cells as well. We need to compare too many and that makes decision-making tougher as well.

There is so much to do. I’m still trying to brainstorm for a hash tag for our wedding preparation & wedding Instagram updates. How does #KKGinaweds sound?

Seoul Winter trip planning Part II

I’ve thought wayyyy in advance on what I’d be bringing to Korea, and in summary, these are what I’ll be bringing:

  • 2 knitted scarves (Green checker & Brown-black mix knit)
  • 2 knitted beanies (White & dark pastel blue)
  • 1 waterproof gloves (Taobao)
  • 1 knitted gloves (Daiso)
  • 1 down feather jacket (Pam is lending me hers, thanks babe!) I ended up buying a champagne gold down jacket from Universal Traveller. It was such a steal, at an offer price of $109 (display piece)
  • 1 Reversible electric blue/ magenta trenchcoat
  • 1 Yellow trenchcoat (Thin)
  • Magenta long knitted cardigan
  • 3 wool socks
  • 2 winter leggings, 1 slightly thick leggings (Gonna throw this away in Korea after wearing it) & 2 thermal leggings (1 heat tech from Uniloq, the other from Taobao)
  • 3 thermal long sleeves
  • 1 wool cardigan in grey (this is so scratchy to the skin that I need to wear a thin thermal long sleeves beneath it)
  • 1 cropped knit top in cream
  • 1 thick knit tunic (in magenta-blue mix knit)
  • 1 black skater skirt

I am also very much tempted to bring my black trenchcoat with gold buttons even though it gives zero aid in winter weather. The above load probably already weighs 15KG in total?

I’m afraid that I may have brought too much to Korea and end up feeling too warm when I head indoors. However, it seems like it will hit -10 degrees in January….. Well, I will rethink about my choice of clothing for Korea over the next few months. Meantime, I need to resume my itinerary planning! 4 MORE MONTHS 😀
